Khin Thandar Htay is national sales director at Myanmar Consolidated Media Ltd., the Myanmar Times. Libyan Newspaper Aiming High

Roaya was born out of revolution and has stood the test of Libya's transition to democracy to become a strong investigative voice in the post-Gaddafi era. Editor-in-chief, Khaled Ateea, joined WAN-IFRA’s Media Professionals Programme at the beginning of 2012 and has spent a year developing the business side of his newspaper.

When Fatemah Farag launched her hyperlocal news company Welad Elbalad Media Services in April 2012, she approached the project foremost as a journalist. With a twenty-year career writing for a host of international and local publications behind her, Farag wanted to give voice to people and regions often overlooked in the traditional media.

Newspaper executives from Libya and Egypt are participating in a new training programme from the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA): the Media Professionals Programme, an innovative initiative to equip media executives with the tools to advance their careers and contribute to the growth of strong local media enterprises.
