10.03.11 - Zeitungsverlag Aachen (ZVA), based in Aachen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, has contracted Ferag to deliver and install two high-performance MSD inserting lines. The existing bundle evacuation system will be extended by a PKT plate chain conveyor system. Both ZVA directors Andreas Müller and Peter Selzer signed the contract on 7 February 2011 at Ferag AG in Hinwil, Switzerland.

The ZVA mailroom is operated by the 100%-owned subsidiary Aachener Presseversand (APV). APV CEO Hans-Jürgen Steffens explains: “After 21 years of dependable operation, the moment arrived when the previous Ferag installation had to be replaced. With Ferag as an innovative partner, we can depend on secure technology.”

Each inserting line is equipped with ten JetFeeder hoppers. Installation of the new line will be phased so that replacement can be completed without production stoppages by autumn 2010.

ZVA produces daily newspapers Aachener Zeitung and Aachener Nachrichten, advertising titles Super Sonntag and Super Mittwoch, and also the monthly magazine Wirtschaftliche Nachrichten. Sales of the daily newspapers are around 140,000 copies, while the advertising titles appear with a weekly circulation of approximately 720,000 copies.
