Eleven Media Group

The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) and the World Editors Forum (WEF) have called for the release of three journalists from Eleven Media Group arrested in Myanmar for their coverage of land and construction deals involving public officials, and condemns the harsh application of the Penal Code as an attempt to silence public interest investigative reporting.

Eleven Media Group CEO, Dr Than Htut Aung, and group Editor-in-Chief, Wai Phyo, have been arrested and sent to Insein prison awaiting a court appointment on 25 November following the publication of an article linking a government minister to allegations of corruption.
