WAN-IFRA in partnership with AMI is pleased to announce the launch of the African Women in News Leadership Award. The Award recognises an exemplary contribution of an Editor to her newsroom, and under her leadership, the contribution of her newspaper to society. Nominations are open now!

 

Each year, the African Women in News Leadership Award will be given to one outstanding African woman editor who is first amongst her peers in inspiring and paving the way forward for the next generation of leaders.

The Winner will possess a proven track record of success within her newsroom, have demonstrated uncompromising editorial integrity throughout her career, and have a strong commitment to the principles of press freedom and its power to promote democracy and good governance.

Eligible nominees must:

  1. Hold a senior editorial role as of 29 September 2014.
  2. Must work in a news media role (newspapers, magazines and digital-only) of all sizes from across Africa are encouraged to submit a nomination.

The 2014 recipient of the African Women in News Leadership Award will be honoured at the Opening Gala of the African Media Leadership Forum, in Johannesburg in November 2014.

The Winner will receive a complimentary airfare and free registration to the WAN-IFRA World Newspaper Congress and World Editors Forum in Washington, 2015.

Completed applications must be received no later than 29 September 2014.  You can nominate yourself, or be nominated by someone else.
