With the decision, the renowned daily newspaper prepares itself to tap into new media opportunities beyond just print and Web

Zaandam, The Netherlands (May 4, 2011) – WoodWing Software, an innovation leader in the field of cross-media and tablet publishing, announced today that the daily newspaper The Japan Times has chosen WoodWing´s cross-media publishing system Enterprise as its new editorial production system. The Japan Times went live with a 60-user system in mid-April. Established in 1897, the oldest English language daily newspaper in Japan is now being produced using Adobe InDesign, InCopy and WoodWing Content Station in a parallel workflow managed by the WoodWing Enterprise server.

"The new WoodWing Enterprise editorial workflow system represents a major investment in the future of The Japan Times – a future of new media opportunities in addition to print and Web,” said Takashi Kitazume, Editor in Chief of The Japan Times. "I am looking forward to taking full advantage of the WoodWing system's capabilities to expand the world's window on Japan."

The WoodWing system has been implemented through a collaboration between Tokyo-based Visual Processing Japan (VPJ) and Kuala Lumpur-based Serioustec, both WoodWing Gold Partners, in close cooperation with The Japan Times staff.

"We are honored to have been chosen by such a prestigious newspaper for their next generation system," said Remco Koster, General Manager of WoodWing Asia Pacific. "I am particularly impressed by the staff´s ability to handle this transition so well in the very difficult situation Japan currently has to deal with."
