Oosterhout, 30 March 2011 -  The first quarter of 2011 has been phenomenal for Q.I. Press Controls. Amongst others they closed an order for about 1.8 million euro. Q.I. Press Controls will supply their full automation solution consisting of mRC+, IDS and IQM to Polaris Trykk in Trondheim Norway. Polaris Trykk is part of the Polaris Media group that owns 4 different print facilities throughout Norway of which one in shared ownership with Nr1Trykk.

The automatic press control equipment will be fitted onto 2 presses, a Goss Universal, consisting of 10 four-high towers and a KBA Commander, a satellite press consisting of 4 towers. First the upgrade of the Goss Universal press will be effectuated. On this press the earlier installed fully integrated Honeywell IRS will be replaced by IRS successor: the mRC+. Secondly next year Q.I. Press Controls’ systems will be installed on the KBA Commander / Express. In total the project comprises of 14 towers colour register, 26 webs for cut-off and 14 towers IDS.

Mr. Steinar Bakken, Director of Polaris Trykk AS: “Given the size of the investment it was not an easily made decision. The initial contact with Q.I. Press Controls dates from 2007, during IFRA in Vienna. Then we first got acquainted with the unique features of the IDS system. Over the years we stayed in touch and were kept informed about the developments regarding the IDS.” Steinar Bakken continues: “Primarily we were looking for a solution to automate our printing processes in order to compensate for the decrease of knowledge and expertise over the coming years due to retirement of our skilled personnel. Not unimportantly a fully automated process with Q.I. Press Controls’ high-tec solutions had the appurtenant benefit of getting the best possible quality enhancement of the printed matter and a fast reduction of waste. Although there were other suppliers, Q.I. Press Controls offered the best quality and service without compromises. ”

“We are honoured to have received this order. Not only because of its large and complete scope, but it will also be a perfect case study for future investments”, stated Erwin van Rossem, Sales executive of Q.I. Press Controls, together with Q.I. Press Controls’ agent for Norway and Iceland Grafi-Tec, responsible for the closing of this order. “Our unique markless IDS automatic colour control solution has proved itself in both the newspaper and commercial printing market on existing and new printing presses and offers our customers structural better results. This however will be the first time the IDS will be installed on a Goss newspaper press. Also the fact that it will be the first Honeywell IDS integration and that this will be the oldest press we have ever retrofitted with IDS makes this project exciting and challenging.”
